Reeds U13 Win the Surrey Shield

U13 Surrey Shield winners

Congratulations to Reeds U13s who won a hard fought match against Alleynians to take the Surrey shield.

Having started slowly, the team went 12-0 down in the first half due to some strong carries and mazy running from the Alleynians forwards and backs respectively. Poor tackling by Reeds was also an early concern and the coaches despaired on how this aspect was so poor compared to the week before in the Bournemouth Tournament. Reeds were fortunate to finish the half 12-7 but came out with a new resolve after the break scoring 4 tries, almost all of which were converted by the powerful boot of Man of the Match Alfie Ulvmoen.

Alleynians did not give up and came back with another hard fought try. The game ended with Alleynians being awarded a penalty try never seen at this age level. There were a lot of question marks from the spectators who found this slightly harsh after a brave try stopping tackle by the Reeds winger Anthony Davis.

Final score Alleynians 24- 33 Reeds.

Team: Jack, Callum, Oscar, Dylan, Robbie, Connor, Matt, Morgan (cap) Ollie T, Alex, Noah, Ross, Isaac, Alfie, Manny, James, Sean, Ollie M, Anthony

Well done Reeds on a great end to the season. Enjoy the break.
